Q1: How old are you and what's your athletic background?

26 years old. Played soccer, basketball and tennis through high school. Played intramural sports in college.

Q2: Why did you decide to join CrossFit Echo and was it worth it?

My cousins kept raving about it and going to the gym was becoming really boring and easy to skip out on. 100% worth it. I never thought I would look forward to working out at 6AM but I can't wait to be back every day.

Q3: What was your first wow I can't believe I did that moment?

When I dead lifted 215lbs!

Q4: What are you working on achieving now?

I would love to string together some double-unders! I'd also like to get my mile time down.

Q5: What would you say to someone interested in joining CrossFit Echo but has been a little hesitant?

It's not as intimidating as it sounds! Andy and everyone is so welcoming. You also find things every day you never thought you'd be good at.

Q1: How old are you and what's your athletic background?

24. Played soccer my whole life and still do now. Never really hit the gym much because I felt it was boring, then when I got into college I found CrossFit and the rest is history.

Q2: Why did you decide to join CrossFit Echo and was it worth it?

Well, honestly, I joined Echo because I passed it every day home from work. The reason I started CrossFit was because the old school 3x10 biceps curl bored me. I needed something a little more exciting; and after my first WOD I was hooked.

Q3: What was your first wow I can't believe I did that moment?

First wow moment had to be my first muscle up. My coach at the time in Beverly kept telling me to just go on the high rings and try but I was hesitant. I did a ton of work pulling hips to rings and working the transition, then one day before a WOD decided to just give it a try. Next thing I knew I was on top of the rings, might as well have been on top of the world. That's CrossFit for ya!

Q4: What are you working on achieving now?

Competition. It's fun being able to do the WODs but I think it's time to start pushing it further and see where I can go.

Q5: What would you say to someone interested in joining CrossFit Echo but has been a little hesitant?

Like a cold swimming pool, the best way to do it is to jump right in! It can definitely be a little daunting at first but the CrossFit community, especially the Echo community, is so great and welcoming. It'll be the best choice you've ever made! Unless you love your kids..then it'll be the second best choice.

Q6: Anything else to add?

Don't just set goals and look to meet them, look to exceed those goals. Always look to be better than even you think you can be. Bad days may happen, but stay strong and focus on the bounce back. Most importantly though, have fun!

Q1: How old are you and what's your athletic background?

I'm 37 years old. I played baseball and football in high school and was also a wrestler. I also played baseball through my college days.

Q2: Why did you decide to join CrossFit Echo and was it worth it?

I decided to give CrossFit a shot because I had become bored with your typical "bodybuilding" stuff you see at the gym. It has been nothing short of life changing for me. I love coming to the box, love seeing my friends there, and love pushing myself farther than my body wants to go.

Q3: What was your first wow I can't believe I did that moment?

There have been a lot of wow moments for me. I literally never thought I could do a double under. I thought I'd sooner fly, than do a muscle-up.

Q4: What are you working on achieving now?

I'm working on becoming the best athlete I can possibly be, everyday.

Q5: What would you say to someone interested in joining CrossFit Echo but has been a little hesitant?

It isn't what you think it is, or have been told by friends. It's not a "cult". It's a group of people who genuinely care about each other, push each other, and lift each other to higher levels then they thought possible. Coach Andy is so good at what he does and can help you get to where you want to be.

Q6: Anything else to add?

As the very first member of CrossFit Echo, I am so proud to see how it has grown. The atmosphere in the box is incredible with everyone there. When I'm having tough times, I can always come to Echo and feel better when I leave!

Q1: How old are you and what's your athletic background?

I'm 59 and I have a yellow belt with a stripe maybe 20 years ago. I joined the YMCA for a couple of years in 2006 and changed to a different gym around 2010 but stopped going about 3 years ago. No real regular exercise since.

Q2: Why did you decide to join CrossFit Echo and was it worth it?

I wanted to get back into a different way of exercising and happen to drive by CrossFit Echo. It was definitely worth it.  I've struggled with weight loss the past 15 years, then found out I had thyroid disease and gained more weight. I lost 50 lbs then gained ten back, but with CrossFit I've lost that 10lbs again.

Q3: What was your first wow I can't believe I did that moment?

I've learned that I am capable of so much more than I ever thought possible. I have been able to run and do sit ups which I've not been able to do since having surgery in 2009.

Q4: What are you working on achieving now?

I just want to keep going to crossFit. It's wonderful and I can't wait to go every time I can.

Q5: What would you say to someone interested in joining CrossFit Echo but has been a little hesitant?

I'd say do it. Don't hesitate. It's worth it. You can get some great exercise and make some wonderful friends.

Q6: Anything else to add?

I am honored that I was chosen to be the athlete of the month. I've accomplished so very much with Andy's training, encouragement and support as well as that of everyone at CrossFit Echo.

Q1: How old are you and what's your athletic background?

40. I was active as a Infantry Marine, where it is absolutely necessary to be physically fit in order to survive in combat and to keep the peace.

Q2: Why did you decide to join CrossFit Echo and was it worth it?

I decided to join CrossFit Echo because I had let my physical fitness slide while I was going to school and having a difficult time balancing all the responsibilities in my life. It is definitely worth it because I feel that I am in best shape of my life.

Q3: What was your first wow I can't believe I did that moment?

I had my first wow moment When I completed the Filthy 50. It was such a tough and rewarding workout. Or when I began to string double unders after working on them for the last 6 months

Q4: What are you working on achieving now?

I am working on becoming a better, well rounded CrossFitter. I love all aspects of this training and just want to perform at a higher level than I am now.

Q5: What would you say to someone interested in joining CrossFit Echo but has been a little hesitant?

Just do it! It is what you make of it. You can go all in head first and go crazy or you can take things slowly and build up to where you want to be. Bottom line is that if you want to get in shape, this will get you there.

Q6: Anything else to add?

Since joining CrossFit Echo I have worked really hard and I'm reaping the benefits. There atmosphere at the gym is great! The camaraderie is awesome and the people are great. I'm looking forward to a long adventure with everyone on the journey to being and staying fit.

Q1: How old are you and what's your athletic background?

I am 33 years old. I have participated in sports and weight lifting all my life but the majority of my fitness was always focused around ️running.

Q2: Why did you decide to join CrossFit Echo and was it worth it?

I've always wanted to join CrossFit but between my work schedule, commute, and becoming a mother, I was never able to manage it. The second I got a job closer to home I knew I needed it in my life. I needed the coaching and team comradery in my workouts for motivation. Becoming a mom has made it difficult to get motivated to move so I feel I really needed a supportive team atmosphere to keep active.

Q3: What was your first wow I can't believe I did that moment?

Honestly box jumps scare me. So being able to move up a size during a workout with box jumps really made me feel more confident and was kind of exciting to see the change. Also being able to progress to a 35 lb. kettle bell was rewarding!

Q4: What are you working on achieving now?

There are several things I'd like to work on. But I think the one thing that I reallllly want to be able to do is a pull up. I remember growing up I could rip out 10 reps so easily and it bothers me that I have lost that.

Q5: What would you say to someone interested in joining CrossFit Echo but has been a little hesitant?

No need to be hesitant. CrossFit is a great physical workout but it will help your mind body and soul! Coach Andy and the other coaches will modify all workouts to fit each clients needs and he ensures you get a great workout all while making you feel completely comfortable in a maybe "out of comfort" zone.

Q6: Anything else to add?

CrossFit will make you feel strong inside and out and will bring balance to your life. You will make great friends and do things you'd never think you could achieve.

Q1: How old are you and what's your athletic background?

I'm 33. I played soccer and softball as a child. As an adult I played on a co-Ed softball league for four years until I had children.

Q2: Why did you decide to join CrossFit Echo and was it worth it?

After kids I tried losing weight by doing Zumba and lost a substantial amount of weight. Once that stopped working I decided to try CrossFit. I specifically chose CrossFit Echo because of the location and the smaller, family style atmosphere and it has been totally worth it! I can't imagine my life without it.

Q3: What was your first wow I can't believe I did that moment?

The first time I was ever able to kick up into a handstand. I was never even able to do that as a child. I had someone take a picture!

Q4: What are you working on achieving now?

Climbing that rope, mobility so I can work on heavier squats, and double unders.

Q5: What would you say to someone interested in joining CrossFit Echo but has been a little hesitant?

Just try it! What do you have to lose??

Q6: Anything else to add?

CrossFit has really allowed me to see what I'm truly capable of if I work hard enough. My motto this past year has been, "Don't wish for it, work for it." And I've been able to accomplish more than I ever thought possible with the support of my family as well as my CrossFit Echo family.

Q1: How old are you and what's your athletic background?

I am 39 years old. Growing up, I played soccer, softball, and basketball. At 19 years old, I got knee surgery and pretty much stopped sports from there.

Q2: Why did you decide to join CrossFit Echo and was it worth it?

I am a mom who also works more than full time at my job. I never went to a gym to workout but knew I needed to do something to better myself. My niece joined CrossFit in NY and I saw her results. From the first few weeks I started, I knew this was the place for me! The coach is always watching to assist you with the correct technique. The atmosphere is always welcoming!

Q3: What was your first wow I can't believe I did that moment?

My first "WOW" moment was when I completed my first 10k race in a time faster than people who normally run. I had only been doing CrossFit for a few months with not much running at all. My hard work at CrossFit Echo was paying off!

Q4: What are you working on achieving now?

My ultimate goal is heavily weighted pull ups!

Q5: What would you say to someone interested in joining CrossFit Echo but has been a little hesitant?

Every person at CrossFit Echo starts at the same place, not knowing how to do a lot of the gymnastic moves or the proper weightlifting techniques. No one cares how little of weight you think you may have. We all support each other and are here to achieve the same main goal, to better ourselves!

Q6: Anything else to add?

As I said I had knee surgery, and I also have degenerative disc disease. Strengthening the muscles in those areas have been the best thing I could have done for my body. The owner and coach Andy can work with anyone to help them get the results they are looking for. I have more energy than ever and spend more time playing with my kids. The only person I compete against is myself, every workout!

Q1: How old are you and what's your athletic background?

41, Not much athletic background until I started P90X about four years ago. Then I discovered Spartan race in 2013 and got hooked on obstacle races. Since then it's been all about training for the next race.

Q2: Why did you decide to join CrossFit Echo and was it worth it?

For a couple of years Andrea had been saying she thought we'd both really like CrossFit. My sister-in-law has her own CrossFit gym, and she & my brother would say the same thing. P90X was a good intro to start working out, but I definitely needed to upgrade to something more well rounded. Andrea found CrossFit Echo, told me how nice everyone was and convinced me to sign up. It's definitely been worth it. Strength and mobility wise, I'm better than ever. I really like everyone at CrossFit Echo, so I'm always happy to go. Some of the obstacles that used to just plain suck at obstacle races, now suck considerably less. Specifically, Bucket Brigade at the NJ Beast, I was amazed at how much less trouble I had carrying that awful bucket of rocks because of all of the squats and deadlifts we do. Atlas carries are easier, overall all of the obstacles requiring strength have gotten easier.

Q3: What was your first wow I can't believe I did that moment?

Well, the muscle up was a big moment, even though I've got to work back up to it. But really most of the weightlifting gave me the WOW moments. I'd never used a bar before joining, only dumbbells at home, so figuring out proper form and then being able to put up any numbers at all really blew me away.

Q4: What are you working on achieving now?

Aside from getting the muscle-up again, right now I'm in the middle of obstacle race season. I do a lot of them in a year, with 7 OCR's and one trail race already done, I'm working on earning my second double trifecta from Spartan, including back to back Supers in Barre, the Beast at Killington, and finishing at Fenway, along with doing our 4th Tough Mudder next weekend, Battlefrog, Rugged Maniac, another Bonefrog, another FIT Challenge, and the New England Ragnar Trail race.

Q5: What would you say to someone interested in joining CrossFit Echo but has been a little hesitant?

It's not what you're afraid it is at all. Everybody is super supportive and friendly. Everyone encourages each other and really roots for each other to do their best.

Q6: Anything else to add?

I'm really grateful to Andrea for finding CrossFit Echo and for everyone there for making it such a great place!

Q1: How old are you and what's your athletic background?

I'm 27 years old. I've always been into athletics, both watching and playing. As a kid, my parents didn't allow video games and television, so there wasn't much of a choice other than to play outside. I played golf and volleyball in high school and continued to play college volleyball.

Q2: Why did you decide to join CrossFit Echo and was it worth it?

I decided to join CrossFit Echo because after college, it was difficult to stay motivated and fit while working full time. I wanted to try something that was going to challenge myself every single day, but also a place I actually look forward going to without getting bored after a year. It truly has been one of the best decisions I have made, not only because I enjoy the atmosphere and friends, but CrossFit Echo continues to push me every time I step through the door.

Q3: What was your first wow I can't believe I did that moment?

The first WOW moment I had was probably when I could consistently string together double unders. When I first joined CFE, I never really had jumped rope in a workout before. It took me months and months before they finally began to come together. When I first began learning, they felt near to impossible, but through hard work, persistence and a lot of welts, they soon became one of my favorite movements.

Q4: What are you working on achieving now?

Right now, I just want to continue achieving what I initially came to CFE to do, which is to stay fit and make new friends who would push me to limits I did not think were possible. More importantly though, I want to encourage others to stay confident and consistent. I absolutely love cheering my fellow athletes on because I know they are capable of much more than they think.

Q5: What would you say to someone interested in joining CrossFit Echo but has been a little hesitant?

Don't think about it, just join. The more you think about it, the more daunting it may appear. Coach Andy continues to impress me with his enthusiasm and knowledge towards people who are intimidated by Crossfit. He makes everyone feel comfortable based on their skill and athletic background, and will not let anyone feel left out.

Q6: Anything else to add?

Since joining CrossFit Echo shortly after it opened, words cannot express how far I have come as an athlete. Every single time I walk through the door, I want to be better than the day before.
